The planning has been going on for months now. The church is reserved, so is the location for the reception on the 18th floor of one of the buildings downtown. Relatives have made travel plans. Cakes, flowers, decorations and booze have been arranged for. It's gonna happen! Last minute alterations to the dress have been made. The tuxedos have been fitted and will be ready to be picked up. I know what I should say when I give her away. I'll try not to screw it up, but I'm thinking of saying: "Their cats, our cats, our dogs, her brother, her most excellent mother and I do...." Whaddya think? Should I? The minister is coming from Denver. He formerly led the youth groups at the church when our kids were growing up. He will be great at leading the ceremony. Family members and friends are coming from Denver CO, Park City UT, Houston TX, Helsinki Finland (my brother), DFW area, Phoenix AZ, Lillian AL, Kansas City MO, Springfield IL, Pagosa Springs CO, Sandy UT, Lombard IL, many places in Kansas and probably other places I am not even aware of. I am not in charge! Cathy, our most illustrious wedding planner and close friend has done, and will do a fantastic job insuring that everything goes well. She is amazing! There have been a few hiccups along the way and I would not be real surprised that a few more little ones crop up, but life would be boring if everything went exactly according to plan. There isn't a huge budget, but nobody wanted it that way. They just want to be married. And everybody else just wants to celebrate their union and get them started off in a long life together. They are a great couple. Possibly the best couple ever to get married in the history of history.
