The holidays frequently bring out the good and bad in people.
Our little scooter club had recently taken part in a toy run sponsored by the Marine Corps and the Salvation Army. I had a recent post with a lot of pictures. Over 3,000 motorcyclists participated.
Last weekend we found out that the warehouse that the toys were being stored in was burglarized and over 1,000 toys were stolen.
Damn!
The thieves concentrated on electronics, but also took a little bit of everything. Most of the toys were ready for delivery. Hard to believe that someone could actually do something like that. Are times really that hard? Or are some people just unbelievable assholes.
But the good also comes out in people when there are needs.
The news hit the papers on Monday morning and by the end of that same day numerous people had stepped up and donated money and more toys. Almost all has been replaced by now and needy children will still have a gift this Christmas.
Here's hoping the Grinch doesn't hit your town.
If he does, please escort him off the planet.

ReplyDeleteBusiness FIRST: where are the pixs of Ms cpa3485's pink fir lined crocs ?
------------------------------------------
We had a similar situation here a few months ago with the food bank being cleaned out. After it was publicized many people immediately started to donate stuff and soon all the shelves were "fuller" than before.
I read somewhere once that there are a good percentage of crooks/scammers and con people walking about the general population. I don't go to malls much but whenever I see a crowd of people smiling and nodding back to you just remember that 25% of them would steal from you.

Bobskoot,
ReplyDeleteSorry to report that the crocs in question are not pink, but sort of a bluish purple. She has a finer sense of fashion than some people we know.
We have lots of trouble with people stealing from cars parked at the malls and shopping centers during the holidays. It's a damn shame.
At least the results from this theft turned out okay.

I'd like to catch up with a few of these lowlifes. What do you daredevil accountants stamp on paperwork? Account closed? I hope we outnumber the scum at least.
ReplyDeletethat's a damn shame what happened, but the resulting outpouring from the community at large was heartening....those thieves have their place reserved in hell I hope.
ReplyDeleteIrondad,
ReplyDeleteThey would be "Written Off"! LOL
Charlie6,
ReplyDeleteI agree that the afterlife for those lowlife might not be pretty
