Addition to the Family

I have been trying to come up with an appropriate and meaningful way to announce something very special that happened to us during this recent holiday season.

About a week and a half before Christmas, Tyler asked me for my daughter's hand in marriage. I gave him my blessing because they are seemingly very much in love with each other.

He showed me the ring he had bought her and said he would be asking her to marry him very soon. That did happen a couple of days later and my daughter said yes.

Here's to Kaleena and Tyler!

May your future together be filled with love, joy and happiness.

  2. Thank you for sharing. May they be as happy as Katie and I have been these past three decades or so. It's cool that Tyler came and talked to you.

  3. Sounds very promising that Tyler asked you first. He's been brought up properly it would seem, and that kind of respect is to be valued these days.

    Congratulations to all of you!

  4. So if you had said no would they have eloped? How cool.

  5. Congratulations Jim! A great looking couple, and it is nice to know that some of the young guys know how to do it the right way by asking Dad first.

  6. Sounds like a good man, very traditional and proper touch to ask you first for her hand....specially these days.

  7. All of you folks,

I was quite surprised that he showed up at the office to ask me for her hand. He's around so much that it feels like he has been a part of the family for quite some time. No complaints.

Conch, I was sure interested in them eloping. It's going to be an expensive year for me. Elopement would have eased that pain. But what the hell. You can't take money with you when you die.

  8. Dear CPA3485:

Congratulaions on your daughter having picked a guy to your liking. There is nothing like starting out having a genuine mutual appreciation and respect for her future husband.

I wish them many years of happiness together.

    Fondest regards.

  9. The last wedding I paid for was my own and it still brings tears to my eyes. Tears of pain.

  11. Orin,
I knew, just knew, that someone would say something about that missing helmet. She saw my post yesterday and felt bad that her helmet wasn't in it.
She actually has a matching blue 3/4 helmet that is very nice and she uses it religiously.
Tyler has worked for us in the office the past 2 tax seasons. He has since graduated and has a better job than I could provide. But this picture was up on his computer for a long time as the background for Windows. I feel guilty as I don't have a picture of my wife as a background or screen saver.
Tyler took the picture near my office and wanted one of her on the scooter and still see her pretty face. She loves her ET, she is a very safe rider and I love the picture.
I actually expected that I would have to say something about the helmet before this and thought about a comment in the original post.
Take Care and thanks for the comment.
    Jim
